Hold Ray and the Sentimentals’ Last Wedding as your organization’s Valentine’s weekend fundraiser: a wedding reception with a live band, and a dance floor full of couples.
Why it suits Valentine’s
Your guests arrive as guests at a wedding reception. Dinner is a buffet, and the band plays from the bandstand all evening. The dancing doesn’t wait for dessert.
That makes it a date night as much as a show, and in February a date night is what your supporters are already planning. After the first dance, there’s a surprising and heartwarming announcement that will change the course of the rest of the night. More about the show.
Valentine’s weekend
In 2027, Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday, so the weekend runs from Friday, February 12, to Sunday, February 14. Valentine’s weekend needs four performances, usually Friday night, Saturday night, a Sunday matinee and Sunday night. Other weeks can run two to four.
There is one band and one Valentine’s weekend, so it goes to the first organization that books all four performances. Ask early. The show books weeks from January 7 to February 28, and the weekends either side of Valentine’s are the next best thing.
How it works
Curtain & Cause brings the band, Ray and three actors, one of whom stage-manages. The remaining parts are cast with you, from your own members, local actors we find, or a mix.
Any hall where you’d hold a wedding reception will work, as long as it has room for the band and a dance floor. Tickets sell online, and the money goes straight into your organization’s account. Our fee is a share of ticket sales, with no minimum for the 2027 season.

Selling it
Tables seat eight: four couples, or two couples and their friends. Sell whole tables to the groups who will fill them, and single seats to everyone else. Local businesses can sponsor a table and fill it with their staff or their best customers.
