What happens
The Sentimentals are a wedding band. They have played every wedding in one family for decades, and tonight is their last one. You arrive as a wedding guest, find your table, and the reception happens around you and with you all night.
Dinner is a buffet, and the dancing doesn’t wait for dessert. The band is live on the bandstand all evening, playing the songs people danced to at weddings across four decades.
Over the evening, the family’s earlier weddings come back one at a time. Each brings the music of its decade, and the couple who married that day tell it as they remember it. When a wedding comes up, the guests wearing that wedding’s color are invited onto the floor to gather around the couple for their dance.
Ray is the bandleader and emcee, and he runs the party. He sings the standards and the country numbers, and over the years he has hired singers for the rest.
After the first dance, there’s a surprising and heartwarming announcement that will change the course of the rest of the night.
Your part in it
Every guest comes as someone who was at one of the family’s earlier weddings. You’ll wear a pin in your wedding’s color, and at your table there’s a card with a few things you might remember from that day.
The couples will find you and greet you as an old friend, usually by the wrong name. Each card also carries a small, optional task for the evening, like finding a certain person and asking them something.
Play along as much as you like, or enjoy dinner and watch. Nobody is ever put on the spot.
Different every night

What should I wear?
Whatever you would wear to a wedding reception. You’re a wedding guest, after all, so dressing up is welcome and never required.
Do I have to take part?
No. Play along as much or as little as you like. Volunteers take the bigger moments, and anyone can sit back and enjoy dinner. Nobody is ever put on the spot.
Is there real food?
Yes. Dinner is a buffet, served during the show.
How long is it?
About 3 hours, with dinner and dancing along the way.
Is there a bar?
That depends on the venue. We’ll say here as soon as it’s confirmed.
Can I come alone?
Yes. Buy a single seat and we’ll seat you at a table with other guests. Half the fun is meeting the people who were at your wedding.
Is it suitable for children?
The show is written for adults.
Is this a real wedding?
It’s a show. The family members are played by actors, the band plays live, and you are one of the wedding guests. Dress for a reception and bring your dancing shoes.
